A food larder has now opened in Largs to provide affordable access to food to top up a member's weekly food shop.
The Food Hub which opened in February, is based at Largs Library and anyone is welcome to join as a member. Each member can come on a weekly basis to select what food they require. This is based on a points system depending on the size of your family.
Part of the North Ayshire Council Fairer Food Network
NAC helped launch the hub as part of their fairer food network and even enlisted Magnus the Viking to support the venture in their new posters promoting the Food Hub.
While the Largs Food Hub is part of a community larder network, any donations will be very welcome as this will allow us to provide an enhanced sustainable service.
Any donations can be given into the Largs Library or contact us on Largsfh@gmail.com
A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said:
"This is all part of the council’s Fairer Food Network to provide a more dignified approach to food insecurity and helps members to make their money go further by giving them access to good food at a lower cost."
